Arne Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot admitted that it's natural for concerns to be asked about his future after another heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their 9th defeat in 12 games, marking the team's worst run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I have got a lot of support from the top,” the coach commented.

“It's important to reverse this trend and earn three points naturally but if you are coaching a team and struggling then it is normal that people question you.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my position. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with The Board

When asked to expand on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot explained:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me every single minute of the day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard conversations we have I perceive the confidence. However I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat so far so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Problems and Player Reaction

Slot lamented familiar failings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his view of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones remarked.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond being angry internally. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's difficult because I play for the team I support. I support them, and I've watched this club for years.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a phase of this nature with results this poor.”

Jones finished, “But we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And as long as that badge is taken away, we’re always going to compete.”

“We will attempt to get this team back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the greatest side in the planet.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
