Eulogies Continue for Rob and Michele Reiner as Medical Examiner's Findings Remain Under Wraps.
Well beyond 14 days subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community continue to honor the pair.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he finally felt ready to post publicly about his profound loss.
"Enough time has elapsed that I can finally put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "When we commenced spending more time together I realized this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor posted archival material from the production, adding that he doesn't recollect "a single day without mirth".
"The film is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Things that Rob valued immensely. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to helm it," Elwes wrote.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, saying: "To say that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still pangs every time I think of you." He ended with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Friend and Collaborator
In a different essay, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was very funny and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the lead role.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked beautifully with everyone, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Restricted
This week, a Los Angeles judge decided to prevent the disclosure of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, after an appeal from the LAPD.
A judicial mandate issued a restriction on the investigation to restrict the public release of "all case details, notes, reports or photos" connected to the probe.
The relevant authority had earlier stated their deaths were the consequence of foul play, with a public database noting the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Aftermath and Reactions
Following the killings, public individuals offered different responses.
Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, providing controversial statements that were widely condemned by several commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his voice to the those speaking out last week. Talking on his program, Rogan characterized the statements as "disturbing" and remarked they revealed a troubling deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan ended by suggesting that an associate ought to have acted when the decision to weigh in on the tragedy was made.
