Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to return for the new Hunger Games series instalment, Sunrise on the Reaping.
Reports indicate that original stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their iconic roles in the newest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Production is currently underway.
A Major Reunion for Fans
Lawrence and Hutcherson are slated to play Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the roles they originated. It is believed their roles will likely occur in a flash-forward sequence, as the original saga concluded with their characters settled into family life.
This signifies the sixth film in the highly successful Hunger Games franchise.
The Source Material
Sunrise on the Reaping draws its story from a recent book by author Suzanne Collins. It acts as the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Once again is Francis Lawrence, who has helmed the majority of the previous films in the series.
The Storyline and Fresh Faces
The film's narrative are set in the years leading up to the first Hunger Games, focusing on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, later known as Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the brutal 50th Hunger Games.
The cast also includes several accomplished actors in pivotal roles:
- Jesse Plemons will portray Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes is cast as a younger version of the menacing President Snow.
What the Stars Are Doing Now & The Film's Schedule
In other news, Jennifer Lawrence has been nominated for a Golden Globe for the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson is part of the hit horror film Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
